He was born in Erie on January 15, 1933, the son of the late Elmer and Edith Vedder Seibel, and passed two weeks to the day after the death of Lella, his dear wife of 66 years. He was a chemical engineer who earned his Professional Engineer designation during his career, which began at Babcock and Wilcox, and continued for decades at Zurn Industries. He achieved numerous accomplishments and accolades during his career. Bob continued to consult on a variety of engineering projects after his formal retirement. He and his wife were active tennis and hockey fans, in addition to cheering for both the Browns and Indians. Bob and Lella were active in the Erie Otters Fan Club and Country Countdown Dancers. Bob and Lella were long time members of First United Methodist Church in Erie.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia Cray (Edgar).
