Homecoming 2019 Recap
Homecoming 2019 at 501 South Allen was a very enjoyable event! It started with the Board tailgate at sunrise on a beautiful fall day, which was hosted by the Hylands, Whipkeys, Jarmuls and Kerns, and was followed by alums and actives enjoying a win over Purdue. Then, the Board hosted a cocktail hour at the house. Attendance was great, with approximately 50 plus people in attendance, including 14 alums, many with their better half. Food was provided by Nittany Caterers, music was provided by local talent Bryan Herber on keyboard, and a photographer was there to capture the fun. We hung the restored 1957 composite in the Chapter Room. It was really a great time.
We asked for feedback on the good and the bad. We were told that “you should do this same thing every year!” I want to express my deepest thanks to the Board for its support, to the actives for their enthusiastic assistance, and most importantly, to the alumni for their continuing support that made this event possible. I do think that we have created a model for future homecomings. I hope to see you at next year’s event, if not before.
Finally, we would like your input on the Chapter Room. First, we are not sure what to call it! Please make suggestions. Second, we are open to your donations of Kappa memorabilia, with a particular interest in composites and pledge paddles. Please contact Fred DeCock, Alumni Committee Chair, with any donations or questions.
Lots of photos from the house event are available here. Check them out and see if you recognize any of your long lost brothers! And plan to attend Homecoming 2020 so you can be part of another great event!
